"The City That Disappeared"

After last year's success during Vinterfestuka 2024, the critically acclaimed production "The City That Disappeared" returns to the Narvik stage! This musical experience, a collaborative project between the Swedish band Ådalsbandet, Musikk i Nordland, and the Vinterfestuka Foundation, touched hearts and filled venues. Now, one year later, audiences will once again have the opportunity to experience the story of the mysterious city that rose, blossomed – and disappeared.

A Moving Cultural Encounter
Building on last year’s performance, the team behind "The City That Disappeared" has worked further to deepen and refine the production. Ådalsbandet, known for its work with historical themes, has composed new pieces for this production, in addition to the well-known songs. The production, which portrays Rombaksbotn and the dramatic story of the construction of the Ofotbanen railway, comes to life again through music, poetry, and theater. A powerful concert performance.

Director Hallvard Holmen promises that this year’s version will be even more sensory and emotional than before: "We’ve taken the audience's feedback from last year and used it to make the production even more impactful. You can expect a powerful, emotional, and gripping concert experience, where the music transports the audience back to a forgotten part of our history. This is a story of community, struggle, and loss – and it will be unforgettable."

A Historical Journey
"The City That Disappeared" is much more than a concert. It is a journey through our local history, filled with timeless melodies and historical events that revive the memory of a city that once was – but vanished almost as quickly as it emerged. It’s a reminder of the power of music to connect the past and present, and how it can create a shared identity and belonging to Narvik’s unique history.

Don’t miss this experience – a performance that, with its combination of music, history, and emotion, will touch audiences of all ages.
